Philippines is the texting capital of the world with nearly 70 million Filipinos using the SMS as primary form of communication. With the advancement of technology that makes communication faster and bettering our lives, it also make us sick.
Excessive use (24/7) of mobile phones, computers, netbooks, laptop, tablets and other devices alike put you at risk of developing Trigger Finger Disease. In Trigger Finger, also known as "Stenosing Tenosynovitis", your thumb or other fingers gets stuck or locked and straightens up with a popping sound. The repetitive use and overuse of your fingers results in wear and tear of tendons and our body heal it with production of scar tissues.
As we use our fingers 24/7, nonstop and repetitive gripping of this electronic and computer gadgets, more scar tissues is produce and a Nodule is formed in the affected area. As the nodule become thicker and thicker, it causes swelling, pain and difficulty moving the particular joint of the finger.
Causes of Trigger Finger
1. Repeated Gripping - repeated use of tools and gadgets or keeping your finger on the mouse 24/7 may lead to Trigger Finger
2. Heath Problems - If you have rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and certain infections, you are at greater risk.
3. Gender - more prevalent on woman
Technology brings benefits to humankind especially computers and mobile phone gadgets, it makes us more productive, communication in a speed of light and complete complex task in a matter of minutes. Doing this everyday, 24/7 and in repetitive pace bring occupational hazards and health disorder that we should not taken for granted.
