Active Low Pressure Area (ALPA) was now a Typhoon FERDIE and estimated at 130 km Northwest of Laoag City as of 8 am July 21, 2012. Various forecast models shows that Active LPA will become a Typhoon in 1 to 2 days and will be named "FERDIE", the 6th typhoon to enter Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this 2012.

If the Active LPA will become a typhoon, will it hit and make a landfall in Batanes group of Islands? Forecast track shows that it will enter the northern part of Luzon same as previous DINDO tracks.
Effects of Active LPA will be moderate to strong winds blowing from Northwest to West over Northern Luzon and coastal waters will be moderate to rough. The whole country will experience cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers that could trigger landslides and flooding. So, everyone is advised to be prepared.

The 6th typhoon will be called "FERDIE" and PAGASA has a list of Typhoons names until 2024 that rotates every 4 years. For 2012, starting from AMBO to ZOSIMO which is a total of 25 typhoon names which is greater than 20 average typhoons that visit our country yearly.
