Latest result of analysis of Kaspersky Lab for mobile malware shows Gingerbread 2.3.6 and ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) 4.0.4 are vulnerable to malware attacks accounting to 50% of malicious programs detected.

Victims of cybercriminals are Gingerbread users (48%) from version 2.3.3 to 2.3.7 while Ice Cream Sandwich (43%) users from version 4.0.4 to 4.0.4.
Majority of malware are Trojan SMS, this Trojan steals money from the victim's mobile account by sending SMS to premium rate numbers. In addition, OpFake family has become most widespread malicious programs detected which account for 38.3%.
This programs disguise themselves as Opera Mini.
Primary cause of malware attacks are installing software from untrusted sources by using social engineering techniques. So beware of those untrusted sites and free app downloads.
