DOST Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) Monorail System on UP Diliman Campus |
AGT or Automated Guideway Transit is a fully automated, driverless mass transit with higher loads than buses but smaller than large scale trains.
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will create an All Filipino AGT System that will suit Filipino needs and resources, it will be the first monorail system in the Philippines. The pilot monorail project will cover 500 meter track which will carry two electrically powered test run Train system.
The test run will be continuous 24/7 in a 500-meter track in southern part of UP Diliman campus and will be check for viability, power consumption, material strength and if feasible, the next phase of the project will be a 6.9 km intra-campus loop.
The test case will serve as the future monorail projects such as Makati-Taguig-Pasay Monorail Alignment that would link up MRT, LRT and PNR. It will address the growing demand for efficient, cleaner and affordable mass transport system.
