After 2 hours of vein bursting, long queuing on SM cinema, we finally got 2 tickets for PAGPAG - Siyam na Buhay movie, a Filipino horror and suspense film with a twist of romance/love and humor/comedy from hottest young stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
PAGPAG - Siyam na Buhay is based on 9 Filipino superstitious belief that are associated with death and funeral and one should never go home directly after visiting a wake (and one should shake off or PAGPAG) to prevent bringing evil spirits to one's home.
The movie is the only horror film that will participate in 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and brought to you by Star Cinema and Regal Films and stars by two mentioned above, Paolo Avelino, Shaina Magdayao, Clarence Delgado, Matet de Leon, Miles Ocampo, Dominic Roque, Janus del Prado, Miles Ocampo, CJ Navato, Michelle Vito, Marvin Yap and directed by Frasco Santos Mortiz.
It is now showing in cinemas nationwide starting December 25 (Christmas Day). Watching it will bring you to adventure of age-old conflict between good versus evil and the good thing, it is graded B by the cinema evaluation board which means that it will get a 65% amusement tax rebate and rated PG 13 - (Parental Guidance), suitable for minors under age of 13 with adult supervision.
MyPhone Android Spotted on PAGPAG Siyam na Buhay Movie - A Review
Daniel Padilla with A919i DUO, quad core Android smartphone from MyPhone. |
The first couple of minutes is the introduction of main characters, movie shots are clear, artistic and excellent and mostly cameras are shooting for still scenes. Surround sound audio is very clear, sharp and heart pumping except for the last part of the movie (not sure if its audio glitch, I think 10 minutes before the movie ends).
What really caught my attention is the use of MyPhone mobile phone (I'm thinking it's A919i DUO Android phone, Philippine map is very obvious) used by Daniel Padilla in one of the scenes. Another scene is the use of LED flash as flashlight.
The use of current technology are frequently used in the movie, aside from touchscreen mobile phone, KakaoTalk is featured - a free mobile messaging App with free calls and text. Mobile phone front camera is also used for "selfie" and video recording and don't forget special effects - it's very good and aesthetic.
Overall, my impression with the movie is inspired by a combination of "The Ring" and "Final Destination" movies and I will give a verdict of 8 out of 10, a horror film for family.
