What makes this fitness tracker great is the versatility of it. Considered the most accurate of set counters in a market filled with the likes of the Nike Fuelband SE, Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung, LG, etc, it also does more than keep track of steps. The UP24 has a built in sensor to vibrate so that you can set an alarm to wake you up gently without any blaring sound coming from an alarm clock or smartphone. This is especially helpful if your significant other doesn't have to get up until later than you and you feel bad waking them with your alarm. It can help you keep track of how well you slept from how you toss and turn at night eventually learning what is the right amount of sleep for you to get to feel rested. Using this information sent to your smartphone during the course of the night, you can use it to know when the best time to go to bed to be up rested and ready to go and a particular hour you need to get up. Probably the best feature that I like is it is the first fitness tracker whose companion app wants to be paired up with other health and fitness apps that you use to keep you going in the right direction. Pair this with MyFitnessPal to help you keep track of the calories you are eating and how many you are burning according to the UP24, RunKeeper to track your daily runs, and many other apps. All these thing while providing solid battery life of 4-5 days before needing to charge. That is just enough battery to start you on a Monday morning with the vibration to wake you up and end on a Friday late afternoon just after your run. Want it to last longer, then you don't have to pair it with your smartphone constantly but maybe connect it to your smartphone via bluetooth 2 or 3 times a day to keep your app(s) updated on how you are doing throughout the day. Which brings us to the one major drawback of the device.

The one downside to the UP24 is it doesn't have an active display on it like the Fitbit, Nike FuelBand SE, or many others to just tap to see how you are progressing through the day. To do that you have to open the app on your smartphone to see how many steps you have taken or calories burned. In my opinion this isn't a setback nor a downside. It keeps you from hovering over the band and wanting to always check the device while you should be focused on your day or work out. With no display it affords the UP24 a longer battery life since it doesn't have to power it. So with this you are not going to receive notifications of texts, emails, or incoming calls as well but as someone who has tested fitness bands/smartwatches that do these things, you are missing much especially when you think about the fact you don't buy this for those things but to help you keep track of your fitness/healthy living progress.

The Jawbone UP24 fitness tracker is great at full price but a complete steal at almost 50% but you have to hurry as it is today only through Amazon. If you know a loved one who has already said they are serious about weight loss as a New Year's resolution then this is the perfect starting point for them to keep them honest with themselves. Track the good (and not so good eating habits), sleep, and movement are great fundamental steps to losing weight properly and the UP24 does exactly those things.
