Tropical Storm "AMANG" - the first typhoon to enter Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) for 2015. |
PAGASA prepared a list of 25 typhoons and 10 Auxiliary names (in case it exceeded the 25) for 2015 and included a Supertyphoon category starting this year.
Typhoon names are repeated every 4 years and those that are deadliest for the previous year are being removed and replaced by other names (example ONDOY, SENDONG, PABLO and YOLANDA are all removed).
Meanwhile, PAGASA Tropical Storm "AMANG" was the first typhoon to enter Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this January 2015 which threatened Pope Francis visit to Tacloban and Palo, Leyte ravaged by Supertyphoon YOLANDA last November 2013.
TS "AMANG" was downgraded to Low Pressure Areas (LPA) as of 4 am January 19, 2015 leaving 2 dead and 4,922 families affected (as of 6 am January 19, 2015).
