Everyone who cared saw the Star Wars: Force Awakens trailer released at the Star Wars Celebration this past weekend. But what everyone didn't see was a teaser for the first film from the Star Wars Anthology Series, Rogue One. The "anthology series" are Star Wars films that are in the same universe, but aren't part of the "Episodes I-IX" series, like an alleged Boba Fett spinoff. Rogue One, according to director Gareth Edwards:
"will revolve around a rogue band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy."
At the panel over the weekend, Edwards and Co. premiered a teaser for the film, which was not released to the public like The Force Awakens was. But, of course, someone recorded it and uploaded it to the interwebs. It's not the best quality, but come on: it's Star Wars and you're excited.
As expected, it's very much a teaser, with not much footage or plot revealed. But DAMN does that Death Star look awesome. The actual movie won't be released until December 16th, 2016, but you can rest assured we'll be on the lookout for everything we can find from it.
