Windows 10 Mobile: when Microsoft makes the new with the old

Manage a product name is not always easy for a company like Microsoft.

We knew for some time that Microsoft intends to give up the name Windows Phone. This was especially seen in certain pages of the Redmond company in which it only referred to as "Windows" instead of "Windows Phone".

And as the trend at Microsoft (and elsewhere) is the convergence of platforms, some might expect that it calls its mobile OS "Windows 10".

However, since the new version of it is available in several editions, one had a different word for distinguishing between them. Thus, the version of Windows 10 you will probably install it at home, on your computer, Windows 10 is called Home. At school, there will most probably Windows 10 Education and on your smartphone (if you do not choose iOS or Android), there will be Windows 10 or Windows 10 Mobile Mobile Enterprise.

Flashback, since before Windows Phone 7, we had Windows Mobile 6, Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 2003.

Of course, the different editions of Windows does not have the same characteristics. However, they will probably (mostly) common: Universal applications or "Windows Application" it will differentiate apps that require a conventional desktop environment.

Otherwise, as a reminder, Windows 10 Mobile should be able to launch these universal apps as if they were running on a computer, provided you have a screen, a mouse, a keyboard and a model compatible with this new feature.
