This is a common issue faced by many Android users. Due to the “Google Play Store not accessible”
or “Google Play Store has stopped working” error, updating apps or installing new ones becomes almost impossible. Users get this error message as soon as they open the Google market app or Play Store. While users have resolved this issue by simply restarting their smartphone or tablet, that hasn’t worked as a long term solution as the error pops up again and again. Some have tried signing in using a different Gmail (google) account and still unable to access the Play Store. If you are getting the Play Store has stopped or not accessible error, here is the most effective fix:
- Go to system Settings
- Select “Apps” >> All
- From the list, scroll down and select “Google Play Store”
- Tap “Uninstall updates”
You have now reverted back to the original/factory version of the Play Store. The Android market app will eventually update to the latest version but this seems to resolve the issue of not being able to open Google Play app.
Another method that may resolve the Play store inaccessible error is by downloading or updating apps via Google Play Store website on your desktop. Simply open the browser on your computer and then log into Play Store using your username and password. Select the app or game you want to update/install and then select your device (Smartphone/tablet). Click “install” or “update”. The download should automatically begin.
If you are using a custom ROM, then you will need to reflash the correct GAPPs package to get rid of the "Google Play Services has stopped" error.
