1) If your Nexus 6 is on, power it off.

2) Press and hold down the Volume button then press and hold down the Power button at the same time until the device powers back on. You should see the word Start with an arrow drawn around it.

3) Press Volume Down until you see the Recovery mode option.

4) Press the Power button to select Recovery mode. You will see an image of an Android robot with a red triangle and black exclamation mark inside the triangle.

5) Now again, press and hold down the Power button and press the Volume Up key one time until you get into the android system recovery.

6) Use the volume key down to scroll to (wipe data/factory reset) and press the Power button to select it.

7) Use the volume down key again to Scroll down to (Yes-erase all user data) and press the Power button to select it.

If your nexus 6 becomes unresponsive while trying this method, you can restart it by holding down the power button for several seconds.
