Intex Launched Aqua Fish With Sailfish 2.0 OS: Intex launched its new the Aqua Fish smartphone on Friday, declared to be the first licensed Sailfish OS device in the world. Running Jolla’s Sailfish 2.0 OS, the smartphone will initially be exclusively available via eBay India at Rs. 5,499. Apparently, it will become available on Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal in the coming weeks.


The Intex Aqua Fish is a dual-SIM phone. The Smartphone is enabled with a 5-inch HD resolution TFT display, supported by a 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor along with 2GB DDR3 RAM. The latest smartphone based on Sailfish OS 2.0 wears an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. The phone is enabled with 16GB inbuilt internal storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.


The Smartphone is 4G LTE enabled with connectivity along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, and Micro-USB 2.0.


A 2500mAh battery powers the Intex Aqua Fish. The Upcoming Budget Smartphone is available in 2 variants Black and Orange color. The phone weighs around 150 grams.

Speaking about the launch, Sami Pienimaki, Jolla Co-Founder, stated “We are very excited and proud to witness the launch of Aqua Fish, the first Sailfish OS-powered smartphone licensed by a major device vendor. With Intex Aqua Fish, smartphone lovers in India will get the possibility to experience an entirely new, fast and smooth user experience, and run their favorite Android apps in a completely new and different environment.”


The company had announced its partnership with Jolla, and the plans were to launch a Sailfish smartphone ‘within a few months’ back at MWC Shanghai in June last year. Jolla unveiled its Sailfish OS 2.0 at MWC in Barcelona last year. The updated OS brings an improved UI and new software integration capabilities for partners. Swiping right to left from the multitasking view in Sailfish OS 2.0 brings up partner spaces, which the company uses to monetize its OS. Intex now became the first company in the world to license Sailfish OS 2.0. The operating system can run Android apps.
